George William Paget

 

George Paget was born in January 1887 in Southport Lancashire. In 1911 he was living in Brough Lane, Hem Heath with his father William, his mother Fanny, and two brothers and a sister.  He was an ironmonger’s clerk. 

 

He was mobilised in May 1916, aged 29 and served as a gunner/bombardier with 171 Siege Battery of the Royal Garrison Artillery.  He was promoted to corporal in June 1916 and was promoted to sergeant shortly before he died. 

 

His service number was 86517.  He died of wounds on 3 December 1917, aged 30, and is buried at Wimereux Community Cemetery, near Boulogne.
